Short terms for a free tool. Use it for anything lawful, the codes are yours, and we can't promise the site will be here forever — though your codes will work either way.

Using the site
Plain QR Codes is free to use, with no account and no usage limits. Use it for personal or commercial purposes. You do not need our permission and you do not need to credit us.
Please do not:
- Use it to create codes that facilitate fraud, phishing, malware distribution or anything else unlawful.
- Attempt to disrupt the site or the infrastructure it runs on.
- Re-publish the site as your own service.
The codes you create are yours
We claim no ownership of and no rights over anything you generate here. Print them, sell them, embed them in products. QR Code is a registered trademark of Denso Wave, but the specification is open and free to implement and use.
Because generation happens entirely in your browser, we never receive a copy of your codes or their contents and have nothing to claim rights over even if we wanted to.
No warranty
The site is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. We have tested the generators thoroughly, including decoding what they produce to verify it reads back correctly, but we cannot guarantee that a particular code will scan on a particular device, in particular lighting, at a particular size, printed on a particular material.
Test a printed proof before committing to a print run. Scan it with more than one phone, at the distance and in the place the code will actually live. This is the single most useful thing you can do, and no online tool can do it for you. The size guide covers what usually goes wrong.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of this site or the codes made with it — including printing costs, reprints, lost business or a code that fails to scan. This is a free tool with no account and no contract; if it does not meet your needs, the remedy is to stop using it.
Availability
We intend to keep the site running, but make no commitment to. It may be unavailable, may change, and may one day be shut down.
This matters less here than it would elsewhere. Codes made on this site are static: your content is encoded in the pattern itself, with no redirect through our servers. A code you made will keep working whether or not this site does — which is rather the point of building it this way. See static versus dynamic.
Advertising and third-party links
The site displays advertising to cover its costs. Ads are supplied by a third-party network and we do not endorse, vet or control what appears. Any dealings with an advertiser are between you and them. Pages here also link to external sites we do not control and are not responsible for.
Privacy
Covered separately and in detail on the privacy page. In brief: what you type into a QR code never leaves your device.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change; the date at the top will change with them. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised terms.
